The Divine Architect
Sorry. I just noticed this did not go out earlier today.
When the Holy Spirit enters your life, He doesn’t quietly slip in and settle for the status quo.
He comes as a builder with blueprints in hand.
He examines every motive, every thought, and every hidden space. He doesn't renovate what’s already there. The Holy Spirit starts a fresh build. He's interested in new construction.
Years ago, DiAnne was designing a labor and delivery floor at a hospital in Nashville. One day, we took our son Houston to walk the nearly completed space. As we turned the corner, I noticed some oddly placed windows which were low to the floor. I remember wondering, “Why are those there?”
Without a word, Houston ran to the glass, pressed his face to it, and said, “I can see the babies.”
She had seen that moment before it ever happened. She had planned for it. She had imagined a child, standing in awe, connecting with new life. She wasn't just thinking about the structure. She was thinking about the people who would live and move within it.
The Spirit works the same way. He sees what we cannot yet see. He designs with the finished picture in mind, shaping every detail with an eternal purpose. Where we may only notice the present inconvenience of change, He is preparing spaces in our hearts where His glory will be seen. Where we see frustration or delay, He sees future joy.
You are under holy construction.
So how do we stay in step with the Spirit’s blueprint?
Start by welcoming His work, even when it feels disruptive. The Spirit doesn’t begin with mild cosmetic changes. He digs all the way down to the foundation. That kind of transformation can feel uncomfortable, even painful, but trust that it’s sacred and necessary.
Next, surrender your own floor plan. We often come to God with our own ideas, timelines, and dreams. But real growth begins when we lay those down and trust His vision instead. His design always leads to more beauty and purpose than we could imagine.
Pay attention to the details. Nothing in your life is random. The Spirit works through the small, daily moments to shape something eternal. Look for the fingerprints of His design in conversations, habits, opportunities, and even interruptions.
Don’t be afraid to ask what He sees. When life feels confusing or chaotic, it helps to pause and pray, “Lord, what are You building in me?” That question shifts your perspective from frustration to faith.
And finally, stay present in the process. Construction doesn’t happen overnight. There will be dust, delay, and detours, but trust that every season is part of the masterpiece. Day by day, you’re becoming a dwelling place that reflects the glory of God.
One day, the scaffolding will come down. The dust will clear. And what will stand in its place is not merely a better version of you, but a living, breathing temple of the Holy Spirit. A sacred space where peace rules, love flows, and God’s presence is unmistakable. You are being shaped into a dwelling fit for the King of kings. The process may be slow, but the result will be glorious. Keep building with Him. You’re becoming something eternal.
